I wonder if it is best to look at small, local scholarships from your school district or city. Seems like it would take a lot of $500 to $1k scholarships to pay for college, but every bit helps.
While it’s true, $10,000 is a lot of money, the chances of winning large scholarships like that are very small. Thousands of students apply for big, well known scholarships. As a student, I would focus on smaller private scholarships that give you a higher chance of earning them. You may have to write a hundred essays, but I believe students would rather have $1k or $500 than none.
